Michael White’s Birthday Concert

We’re celebratin Michael White’s 90th birthday this Saturday! https://wintergreen-music.org/events/2021/4/a-michael-white-celebration The summer of 2007 was both Michael’s and our first year at the Wintergreen Festival and Steve got to premiere a new wonderful piece by Michael that summer (A Darker Quartet for two violas and two celli). Steve has since played (and usually premiered) about ten of Michael’s chamber pieces – string trios, quartets, a solo sonata, etc. A couple years ago he wrote a gorgeous viola quintet “From the Sephardim” for us and Cuatro Puntos Ensemble that we will record later this year, and last spring he wrote Three Hasidic Miniatures for violin and viola, an absolutely delightful piece! Michael is much loved at Wintergreen. Audiences enjoy both his music and the wonderful lectures that he gives about the music being played at the fest. So Wintergreen is throwing him a special party that will include the premiere of our new video of Three Hasidic Miniatures plus Mozart’s G major Duo. And Michael will introduce both pieces! We hope some of you can join us and wish him happy birthday! Special thanks to Kevin Bishop for doing the videos for us, and to Old St. Andrews Church for letting us use their beautiful space for the recordings! https://fb.me/e/2pVPSYrBH
